Protects, lubricates, defends.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But when it changes composition - becoming denser, oxidised or altered - it can contribute to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">superficial irritation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">increased adhesion of scales<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sensation of \u201csuffocated\u201d production.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attacking the skin with overly degreasing cleansers often leads to the\u2019<\/span><b>rebound effect<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that is, when sebum production increases and instability is further amplified.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Why seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp tends to return<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many people tell the same pattern:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use of a specific anti-dandruff shampoos which they discontinue as soon as they see improvement.
